Our Story

Wynyard is a growing, thriving neighbourhood, but it’s never had a church community of its own! There has been a settlement in Wynyard for centuries, but although there’s a chapel at nearby Wynyard Hall, and the village has been part of Stockton Country Parish, there’s never been a church regularly meeting in Wynyard itself.

The Church of England, recognised this need and decided to start a new church in Wynyard. It was early 2020 when Emily and Mark were invited to establish and lead this new church. The church has a partnership with Wynyard Primary School, and when services start will be meeting in the school building.

It is thought that Wynyard derives its name from the Anglo-Saxon wín-geard – one of the meanings of this word is ‘vineyard’ and this from where the church derives it’s name. If you would like to find out more about this watch the video below.
